You\u2019re probably thinking, \u201cOf course. Who isn\u2019t?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But statistics show that Canada\u2019s population of older adults is quickly growing \u2014 and by 2040, Canadians aged 65 and older are expected to represent nearly one-quarter of the country\u2019s overall population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Older adults may be wondering how to take charge of both their health and their care, and their loved ones may be wondering how to best provide support and advocate for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To educate and empower older adults and their loved ones, The Ottawa Hospital has launched a special video series, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/playlist?list=PLLuNd32pHu24wbra-g-x5eGdQmWQxRMsv\">Aging well: Guidance for older adults<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Free to view and available in English and French, these six videos feature geriatric care specialists from The Ottawa Hospital, who offer guidance on navigating common health-care challenges that may arise with aging:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Understanding dementia: Causes, symptoms and treatments<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Dementia can significantly interfere with daily living and requires ongoing management and support, so early detection and proper diagnosis are crucial for improving quality of life.
