Mulligan, Transportation Worker at the General Campus.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A transportation worker who took the time to give a stroke patient a heated blanket was singled out for thanks from the patient\u2019s son-in-law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven though it was a rough few days, the purr and facial expression on my father-in-law was absolutely priceless,\u201d the son-in-law wrote in a letter to TOH President and CEO Dr. Jack Kitts. \u201cI honestly think that five seconds of bliss (it\u2019s always the little things) made a world of a difference to him. Thank you to the tattoo-sleeved porter for giving that moment to him. Sorry I didn\u2019t catch your name.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That porter is C.J. Mulligan, who has always offered heated blankets to patients, but understood the importance even more after he was an Emergency Department patient himself.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s like a warm hug,\u201d said Mulligan, who has worked at TOH for nine years. \u201cWhy not go that extra step? Patients definitely appreciate it. You get a good reaction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPatients are so appreciative of the little things we do,\u201d said Dr. Kitts, who visited Mulligan to thank him. \u201cA warm blanket or a friendly smile are priceless to them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe small things make all the difference,\u201d said Mulligan, \u201cto know that you\u2019re not alone and that someone\u2019s there to help you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The son-in-law also thanked a long list of other staff members. \u201cPlease do not be insulted when I say we hope to not have to see you again, but if we do, know we\u2019re in good hands. &nbsp;Thank you for treating us \u2018as your own\u2019.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The small things make all the difference,\u201d said C.J.
