Impossible to read any further. Talk about frustration!<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s exactly what it\u2019s like when people use screen readers or other technology to read documents that turn out to be inaccessible.<\/p>\n<table class=\" text-center\" style=\"background-color: #d0dae8;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 544px;\">\n<p class=\"text-right\"><em>\u201cIt\u2019s very frustrating when you can\u2019t access a document or website, especially if it\u2019s work related and you\u2019re trying to make informed decisions. The knowledge to make things accessible is there and when people just don&#8217;t have the initiative to do it, it\u2019s very annoying.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"text-right\">Richard Marsolais,<br \/>\nSpecialist in Independent Living Skills with the Canadian National Institute for the Blind and a community representative on TOH\u2019s Accessibility Committee<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>That\u2019s precisely why TOH\u2019s most recent <a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/TOHMultiyearAccessibilityPlan2013-2017.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">accessibility plan<\/a> and <a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/TOHAccessibilitypolicy2012accessibleversion.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">accessibility policy<\/a> were created and posted in a fully accessible format of Microsoft Word. No more snags; no more barriers. All readers can navigate easily through the charts, tables, text and graphics contained in these documents.<\/p>\n<p>All of this didn\u2019t happen by accident. I created the documents and collaborated with Andrew Fitches, a graphic designer in TOH\u2019s Printing Department, on the more complex elements of accessible design. A community representative on TOH\u2019s Accessibility Committee then provided the final test.
