These include chemotherapy, targeted agents and immune system boosters. Any side effects related to your treatment are also managed here. \u00a0If referred to us, you will meet our dedicated oncology team at one of our three locations: The Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre, The Medical Day Care Unit <em>(MDCU)<\/em> at the General Campus, or the Irving Greenberg Family Cancer Centre located on the grounds of The Queensway Carleton Hospital. \u00a0Our goal is to support you, starting at your first meeting with your oncologist (doctor specializing in cancer care) and patient designated nurse, during chemotherapy treatments, and in arranging any follow- up care you may require.<\/p>\n<h2>Our Services:<\/h2>\n<p>The Systemic Therapy Program will provide you with highly specialized care.\u00a0 Services available to you through our program include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Anti-cancer drug treatment planning specific to your disease and individual needs<\/li>\n<li>Group education sessions providing general information about anti-cancer drugs<\/li>\n<li>Individual education about your specific treatment regimen provided during your clinic and treatment appointments<\/li>\n<li>Anti-cancer drug treatments given by Registered Nurses<\/li>\n<li>Access to clinical trials (if you qualify)<\/li>\n<li>Referrals to additional services such as smoking cessation programs, pain and symptom management, and\u00a0 supportive care<\/li>\n<li>Other group and individual education sessions related to your care<\/li>\n<li>Transfer to inpatient units should your require hospitalization<\/li>\n<li>Follow-up visits with an oncologist<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Our Treatment Locations:<\/h2>\n<p>Treatments will be provided to you as close to home as possible, under the direction of your oncologist.\u00a0 You may receive treatment at one of the following locations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9451 alignright img-responsive\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/SystemicTherapyProgram_Staff_2.jpg\" alt=\"systemictherapyprogram_staff_2\" width=\"250\" height=\"166\" \/>The Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre \u2013 General Campus<\/li>\n<li>The Medical Day Care Unit (MDCU)- General Campus<\/li>\n<li>The Irving Greenberg Family Cancer<\/li>\n<li>Hawkesbury &amp; District General Hospital<\/li>\n<li>Renfrew Victoria Hospital<\/li>\n<li>Pembroke Regional Hospital<\/li>\n<li>Winchester District Memorial Hospital<\/li>\n<li>Cornwall Community Hospital<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Our Team:<\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9450 alignright img-responsive\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/SystemicTherapyProgram_Staff_3.jpg\" alt=\"systemictherapyprogram_staff_3\" width=\"350\" height=\"234\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ottawahospital.on.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/SystemicTherapyProgram_Staff_3.jpg 350w, https:\/\/www.ottawahospital.on.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/SystemicTherapyProgram_Staff_3-300x201.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/>The dedicated team of The Systemic Therapy Program includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Medical oncologists<\/li>\n<li>Hematologists<\/li>\n<li>Palliative and Supportive care physicians<\/li>\n<li>General practitioners in oncology<\/li>\n<li>Pharmacists<\/li>\n<li>Registered nurses specialized in cancer care<\/li>\n<li>Supportive health professionals, including social workers, dieticians, physiotherapists and others<\/li>\n<li>Clerical staff<\/li>\n<li>Volunteers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Making an appointment:<\/h2>\n<p>A referral to the Systemic Therapy Program and an oncologist is required from your surgeon or family physician.
