Autologous (self) and allogeneic (donor) transplants are performed at the General Campus for both malignant and non-malignant diseases affecting the blood and immune systems. Multidisciplinary hospital team members work together to provide high-quality care in both the inpatient and outpatient setting.<\/p>\n<p>The TCT program at The Ottawa Hospital was the first program outside of the United States to receive accreditation from the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.factwebsite.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT)<\/a>. \u00a0In 2020, the TCT program received its seventh accreditation, including certification for immune effector cell (IEC) administration, or CAR T-cell therapy.<\/p>\n<h2>Our services<\/h2>\n<p>Throughout your transplant or cell therapy journey, you will meet many health-care providers committed to providing world-class care and exceptional service. Your care will be provided across these sites:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Module L<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 an ambulatory care clinic located on the second floor of The Ottawa Hospital General Campus.\u00a0 Module L offers various clinics to meet your needs, both before and after your transplant or cell therapy treatment.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Medical Day Care Unit (MDCU)<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 an outpatient treatment unit located in room 5333 on the 5th floor of The Ottawa Hospital General Campus. MDCU provides care to many patients with varying needs including transplant and cell therapy patients at different stages of treatment.<\/li>\n<li><strong>TCT Day Hospital Program<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 located on the 5<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0floor of The Ottawa Hospital General Campus. Most patients receive daily care in this unit while undergoing transplant or CAR T-cell therapy.\u00a0The unit is open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. If you meet the criteria for this program, you will be allowed to come in for daily treatment and assessment and then return home to your family or caregiver. As a day hospital patient, physician coverage is available to you 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.<\/li>\n<li><strong>5 West<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 an inpatient unit located on the 5th floor of The Ottawa Hospital General Campus specializing in the care of leukemia, stem cell transplant and cell therapy patients. This ward features private rooms only. For patient safety reasons, visiting hours on 5 West differ from the standard hospital visiting hours. Your care team will review this with you and your family on admission.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Our Team<\/h2>\n<p>The TCT program team includes Registered Nurses, Hematologists, Clinical Associates, Clinical Pharmacists, Dieticians, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and Social Workers.\u00a0 The team also includes:<\/p>\n<div class=\"toh-tc-row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-6 mb-4\">\n<div class=\"toh-tc h-100\">\n<div class=\"toh-tc-body text-center\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ottawahospital.on.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Sheryl.jpg\" alt=\"Sheryl McDiarmid\" width=\"240\" height=\"240\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"toh-tc-title\">Sheryl McDiarmid, RN, BScN, MEd, MBA, AOCN, ACNP, CVAA\u00a9, CRNI\u00ae<\/h4>\n<p class=\"toh-tc-text\"><strong>Advance Practice Nurse (APN) \u2013Transplantation and Cellular Therapy Program<\/strong><br \/>\nSheryl is a Registered Nurse with a Master\u2019s degree in education and extensive clinical knowledge in malignant hematology and stem cell transplantation. As an APN, Sheryl works closely with the attending physician and other TCT team members to provide care to our patients throughout the transplant or cell therapy process. The APN is also responsible for coordinating complex treatment plans and treatment protocols.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-md-6 mb-4\">\n<div class=\"toh-tc h-100\">\n<div class=\"toh-tc-body text-center\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/CareyLandry-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"careylandry\" width=\"240\" height=\"240\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"toh-tc-title\">Carey Landry, BSc, PhD<\/h4>\n<p class=\"toh-tc-text\"><strong>Manager, Transplantation and Cellular Therapy Program and Module L <\/strong><br \/>\nCarey\u2019s role as TCT Program manager is to oversee the daily operations of the TCT program and outpatient clinic. His post-doctorate training included an internship and residency in internal medicine, as well as a residency in clinical hematology and a fellowship in the Leukemia\/Bone Marrow Transplant Program at the University of British Columbia. He holds a Master\u2019s degree in Clinical Epidemiology. After spending 10 years as a hematologist at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Dr. Bredeson returned to Canada to oversee the TCT program at The Ottawa Hospital.
