{"id":78688,"date":"2023-09-07T13:41:53","date_gmt":"2023-09-07T17:41:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ottawahospital.on.ca\/?page_id=78688"},"modified":"2025-10-28T10:21:26","modified_gmt":"2025-10-28T14:21:26","slug":"champlain-screening-outreach-program","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.ottawahospital.on.ca\/en\/clinical-services\/deptpgrmcs\/programs\/cancer-program\/what-we-offer-our-programs-and-services\/champlain-screening-outreach-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Champlain Screening Outreach Program"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Launched in July 2023, the Champlain Screening Outreach Program allows eligible individuals without a family doctor living in Eastern Ontario to access cancer screening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Am I eligible for cancer screening?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We provide screening for the cancers that have organized provincial programs: <strong>cervical, breast, lung, <\/strong>and<strong> colon <\/strong>cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Check the table below to see if you are eligible for screening!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Cervical Cancer<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Breast Cancer<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Lung Cancer<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Colorectal Cancer<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>HPV screening test every five years from age 25-69.<\/td><td>Mammograms from age 40-74. If you have a family history of breast cancer, you can speak with our Nurse Practitioner to see if earlier screening is for you.<\/td><td>Current or past smokers aged 55-80. \u00a0 \u00a0<\/td><td>A stool (FIT) test every two years from age 50 to 74. Based on family history, some people may be eligible for a screening colonoscopy. &nbsp;<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This program is not for you if:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You live outside of Ontario or are not covered by OHIP.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You have signs or symptoms of cancer. We do not offer other primary care services or diagnostic services. If you have a current medical complaint, please access care through available walk-in clinics.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How do I make an appointment?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Patients can self-refer to the Champlain Screening Outreach by calling 1-833-551-4125 or by booking an appointment <a href=\"https:\/\/outlook.office365.com\/owa\/calendar\/OutreachScreening@theottawahospital.onmicrosoft.com\/bookings\/\">online<\/a>. &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your first appointment will be a phone call.
