I had tears running down my cheeks, so happy to be back in the air.\u00a0 I tried their hand cycle and loved it so much, I bought my own and cycled in the \u201cArmy Run\u201d this past season.\u00a0\u00a0 I was introduced to the wheelchair rugby team and was able to try it out using a specialized rugby wheelchair.\u00a0 Now I am a member of that team.\u00a0 The Recreation Therapists gave me these opportunities and so much more, that really prepared me to live the possibilities.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-14924 alignleft img-responsive\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/dlkpanlj8890957954793321544.gif\" alt=\"canoe\" width=\"172\" height=\"214\" \/>I really appreciate \u00a0what my Recreation Therapist has done for me.\u00a0 I\u2019d hit a slump this past fall, where I\u2019d pretty much felt useless.\u00a0\u00a0 I told Cindy that, and what she told me solved it.\u00a0 She told me about the Paddle-All-Program, what it entailed, and how it might help me.\u00a0 I liked what I heard, and joined.\u00a0 She hit it bang-on because it\u2019s basically giving me a sense of purpose.\u00a0\u00a0 Through the program, I\u2019m going to join a competitive team, and work towards competing in the provincial finals.\u00a0 I\u2019ll work with them, will train for a higher level, and hopefully nationals. <em>Rob Wein, patient<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Recreation Therapy helps to balance things and brings the \u201cperson\u201d out of the patient.&#8221; <em>Gina Dor\u00e9, Occupational Therapist.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Recreational therapists have a major impact on patients&#8217; quality of life. Their interventions promote independence through interpersonal relationships, socialization and self-confidence through physical and cognitive skill-building.&#8221; <em>Rachel Gervais, Chief, Occupational Therapy and Therapeutic Recreation<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The breadth of the areas to which you are able to expose and interest patients is truly remarkable.
