{"id":11896,"date":"2016-12-01T12:09:58","date_gmt":"2016-12-01T17:09:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/52.229.122.34\/en\/?page_id=11896"},"modified":"2017-08-09T10:47:08","modified_gmt":"2017-08-09T14:47:08","slug":"dr-peter-o-magner","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.ottawahospital.on.ca\/en\/clinical-services\/deptpgrmcs\/departments\/nephrology\/physicians\/dr-peter-o-magner\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr. Peter Magner"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Nephro<strong>logist<br \/>\n<\/strong>Associate Professor<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Dr. Peter Magner<\/strong> received his MD from the University of Ottawa, and did postgraduate training in Ottawa, Toronto and Christchurch, New Zealand.<\/p>\n<p>During his first academic appointment at the University of Calgary he was Undergraduate Renal Block Chair and received several teaching awards.<\/p>\n<p>He also has a major involvement in Nephrology administration and the restructuring of Nephrology services within the amalgamated Ottawa Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>He recently completed two 5-year terms as Division Head of Nephrology at the Ottawa Hospital and the University of Ottawa.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Clinical Interests<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Advanced CKD<\/li>\n<li>Hypertension<\/li>\n<li>Hemodialysis<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Educational Interests<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Undergraduate and postgraduate education, especially\u00a0hypertension, electrolyte physiology and management of acute &amp; chronic renal failure, CME, especially about progressive renal insufficiency and hypertension.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Administrative Interests<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>As Provincial Medical Lead for Funding and Planning for the Ontario Renal Network, he is heavily involved with the province\u2019s management &amp; planning of renal services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Publications<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Search <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/sites\/entrez\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>PubMed<\/strong><\/a> for<strong> Magner P<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nephrologist Associate Professor Dr. Peter Magner received his MD from the University of Ottawa, and did postgraduate training in Ottawa, Toronto and Christchurch, New Zealand.
