The fellowship is designed to prepare general surgeons for imaginative and dynamic careers dedicated to caring for patients with acutely life-threatening surgical conditions.<\/p>\n<h3>Clinical Excellence<\/h3>\n<p>The fellowship provides a high volume of trauma experience and acute\u00a0care surgery. Trauma\/ACS fellows serve as Trauma Team Leader and junior attending for Acute Care Surgery, and are responsible for\u00a0directing patient management, teaching, and quality improvement initiatives. In addition to the\u00a0trauma and acute care surgery blocks, fellows will rotate through highly relevant surgical subspecialties including, Thoracic Surgery and\u00a0Vascular Surgery. \u00a0The fellow will also have the opportunity to participate and teach in structured educational curricula including the ATLS, RTTDC, TEAM and the StopTheBleed\u00ae Course. The fellow will have the opportunity to attend a trauma-related conference.<\/p>\n<h3>Academic Excellence<\/h3>\n<p>There are research responsibilities to manage at least one project during the year as well a Grand Round presentation, Morbidity and Mortality round and\u00a0participating in undergraduate and graduate educational activities. There will be expectation in participating in the Quality Improvement process.<\/p>\n<h3>Application and Inquiries<\/h3>\n<p>One-year funded position from July 1<sup>, <\/sup>2022 to June 30, 2023 at The Ottawa Hospital \u2013 Civic Campus through the University of Ottawa.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants should have completed a full General Surgery residency and qualify for independent practice license with College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
