Trauma Services are based at the Civic Campus and involve a multidisciplinary trauma team that works together to provide comprehensive, quality care to injured patients and their families.<\/p>\n<p>The team is comprised of trauma surgeons, physicians, registered nurses, respiratory therapists, social workers, physiotherapists, dieticians, speech-language pathologists, and occupational therapists. All health-care professionals work together with the goal of helping each patient reach their full potential recovery after injury.<\/p>\n<p>As a tertiary trauma centre The Ottawa Hospital Trauma Services assumes a leadership role in the development, evaluation and continuous <strong>quality improvement<\/strong> of adult trauma care for Eastern Ontario.<\/p>\n<p>The hospital Trauma Services is committed to excellence in compassionate, <strong>patient-centred care<\/strong> from the time of injury through to discharge.<\/p>\n<p>The hospital Trauma Services coordinates and delivers trauma related <strong>education<\/strong> across all health-care disciplines at the local, regional, and national levels.<\/p>\n<p>The hospital Trauma Services team members are actively involved with the identification, initiation, publication, and dissemination of <strong>research<\/strong> related to trauma care as a foundation for evidence-based practice.<\/p>\n<p>The hospital Trauma Services actively collects and analyzes comprehensive <strong>data<\/strong> on all trauma patients for inclusion in provincial and national reports, to monitor and optimize patient care.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Injury Prevention<\/strong> is an integral part of the hospital&#8217;s Trauma Services, encompassing a strong liaison with both communities, and our provincial and national partners.<\/p>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>STOP-THE-BLEED\u00ae Courses are designed to increase the survivability of life-threatening bleeding.
