Our aim is to improve the quality of life for each person and family by enhancing the ability to hear, understand, and communicate.<\/p>\n<p>Patients may be seen at the Civic Campus or the General Campus, although not all services are available at both locations. While we primarily provide services to outpatients, we also do see inpatients.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-md-4\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-responsive alignright\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/audio-index.jpg\" alt=\"Audiology\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Our Services<\/h2>\n<p>Services provided by Audiology at The Ottawa Hospital include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Comprehensive audiological evaluations including tests of hearing sensitivity, word recognition, middle ear function, inner ear, hearing nerve function, and balance<\/li>\n<li>Tinnitus and Decreased Sound Tolerance and Management Clinic<\/li>\n<li>Auditory Implant Program (including cochlear implants, bone anchored hearing devices)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Our Team<\/h2>\n<p>Audiologists hold a master\u2019s degree in Audiology from an accredited university program with specialized training in the prevention, identification, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of persons with hearing problems, tinnitus and dizziness. They are registered by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.caslpo.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO)<\/a>, which is the provincial regulating body for the profession in Ontario. Audiologists at The Ottawa Hospital work closely with Ear, Nose and Throat Physicians. We also teach and provide supervision for students, and participate in research.<\/p>\n<h3>Team Leaders include:<\/h3>\n<p>Arran McAfee, Profession Leader, Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology<br \/>\nAvital Winer, Professional Practice Manager, Dietetics, Speech-Language Pathology, and Audiology<\/p>\n<h2>Making an Appointment<\/h2>\n<p>A referral from a physician is initially required in order to get an appointment in Audiology.
