“During the last month of my husband’s life, Kate came into our lives. She went out of her way to make a terrifying time less daunting and if we needed anything she was always willing to help. She encouraged us, laughed with us and most importantly, made our daughter comfortable in a place that is scary for children. Kate’s warm smile helped put our daughter at ease and allowing her [our daughter] to check Dad’s temperature and blood pressure was the highlight of her visit. Kate also helped him feel like a father for a few short moments by ensuring he was finished his transfusions for the day allowing her [our daughter] to snuggle into bed with Dad. Those hugs were the first they had been able to share in over a month and a half. For an hour or two we were almost a normal family again. I will never forget her kindness; her generous spirit and how she made the three of us feel. For that I will be eternally grateful. Thank you Kate.”
