We know how exciting it is to have a new baby. Remember that the new mother is recovering from giving birth and learning to take care of her new baby. Make sure she has time to rest and enjoy her baby.

Consider visiting the new family when they get home instead of in the hospital. Some mothers ask the nurse to limit their visitors. Please be understanding.

If you are visiting in hospital, please be respectful of other patients in the room or next door by keeping voices low, keeping visits short and limit of 2 people per bedside. Children under 12 years old are not allowed to visit (except for brothers or sisters of the baby). Children who are visiting should stay in the mother’s hospital room. They may also go to the lounge area if they are supervised by a family member. The new mother should NOT be the supervisor

IMPORTANT

Please do not bring latex balloons into the hospital. TOH is a scent free environment, please do not wear perfume or cologne.

Please wash your hands before touching or holding the baby.

PLEASE DO NOT VISIT IF –

  • you have a cold, fever, rash, vomiting or diarrhea
  • you have been around anyone with measles, mumps, or other diseases
  • you have been exposed to chicken pox in the past 10-21 days
