Speech Language PathologyThe speech-language pathologist assists patients who require treatment of communication problems: speaking; understanding; reading and writing. They also assess and treat swallowing problems with the goal of achieving safe eating.

  • Speech-language pathologists at TOHRC provide clinical services to adults with a range of communication disorders affecting speech, language, voice, memory and thinking.

The speech-pathology department works closely with other health-care professionals as part of the multidisciplinary team at TOHRC, including with the:

  • Acquired Brain Injury Service
  • ALS Clinic
  • Neuromuscular Care Stream
  • Locomotor Care Stream
  • Neurospinal Service
  • The Augmentative Communication and Writing Service provides interdisciplinary assessment and management to adults who are unable to achieve functional communication (speaking, writing).
