We’re helping you save for your future

The Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) is a defined benefit (DB) pension plan that has been helping build the foundation for a financially secure retirement for Ontario’s healthcare workers.

The plan is tailored to the healthcare sector and offers its members retirement income for life. Both the employee and the hospital make contributions to the pension plan to provide you with income during your retirement years. Visit their website for more information.

Other work perks

Excellence Awards

We have so many outstanding staff and volunteers, committed academics and educators, hidden heroes, and team players. Every year, The Ottawa Hospital takes the opportunity to celebrate our stars through the Excellence Awards, which is a peer-based recognition program to celebrate  employees,  physicians,  residents  and  volunteers  who  have  shown  their  true  passion  for  our  vision  of  providing  each  patient  with  the  world-class  care,  exceptional  service and compassion that we would want for our loved ones.

Long Service Awards

The success of The Ottawa Hospital relies on the dedication of our staff.   Employees, physicians and volunteers are recognized for their years of service beginning at five years and subsequent milestones at five-year increments. Any employee or volunteer celebrating 20+ years of service are invited to attend a special evening hosted in their honour.

Guardian Angel Program

This program is a thoughtful way to say thank you to the caregivers who go above and beyond to provide our patients with extraordinary care, every day. Patients can honour a doctor, nurse, staff member, or volunteer who made a positive impact on their experience by giving a gift and sending a message to let him or her know that the special care given did not go unnoticed.

Staff Appreciation Week (SAW)

We have an annual celebration to recognize the commitment and many contributions made by all employees over the year.

Career Transition Centre (CTC)

The CTC provides tools and guidance to empower employees to manage their own learning and careers. Recognizing the health-care landscape is ever evolving, the CTC helps employees identify their career objectives and provide guidance with plans to develop and refine skills to meet them.

The Ottawa Hospital is an equal opportunity employer.
