Under the direction of the EVP Finance and CFO, the Director, Revenue and Receivables is responsible for the efficient and effective management of the Hospital’s revenues and Accounts Receivable system.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing The Ottawa Hospital billing and collection policies for all patient and non-patient accounts;
  • Preparation of annual budget for inpatient and outpatient revenues and monitoring of actuals;
  • Planning and directing the daily operations of all Accounts Receivable functions, including medical remuneration;
  • Planning, developing and monitoring the financial controls necessary to ensure the completeness, accuracy and timeliness of revenue recognition, the collection of the associated receivables, and the safeguarding of cash;
  • Ensuring the proper application of all legislative requirements for Federal, Provincial Acts and private insurance agencies;
  • Preparation of monthly financial analysis and revenues forecasting for revenue and receivables;
  • Supervising and assessing the performance of Accounts Receivable staff;
  • Planning, development and implementation of Accounts Receivable computer systems, applications, new & innovative technologies and enhancements;
  • Corresponding with Ministry of Health and other government entities on revenue issues;
  • Educating and supporting the registration teams to ensure appropriate, accurate and timely billing for patients and non-patient related items;
  • Monitoring aging of the receivables to optimize revenues and reduce any collection risks.

Essential knowledge and experience

  • University degree in business administration;
  • Professional Accounting designation with the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) of Ontario (CA, CMA, or CGA);
  • Minimum of five (5) to ten (10) years of related accounting experience at a management level;
  • Extensive experience as a professional accountant at a managerial level in a health care environment, preferably a large organization;
  • Sound experience in Project Management
