Civic | General | Rehabilitation Centre | Riverside

 

Civic Campus

AREA ROLE
Admissions Prepare files, provide information and directions to patients. Call family physicians to inform them that their patients have been admitted to our hospital.
Continuing Care Centre Work with a Recreational Therapist to provide assistance in various programs such as baking, crafts and hobbies, cards, games and special outings for elderly patients. Assist patients at mealtimes and provide one-on-one visiting with elderly patients.
Dialysis Prepare and provide refreshments to patients, chat with patients undergoing dialysis.Tidy waiting area, pantry area replenishing supplies for the following shift
Emergency Act as a liaison between staff, patients and their families.Welcome incoming patients and provide them with information and directions, keep patients in waiting areas informed of waiting times, accompany nervous/anxious patients until their family member arrives. Transport patients within the ER.
Family Medicine Centre Welcome patients as they arrive and assist or direct patients to the examination rooms. Stock linens and medical supplies and tidy examination rooms and waiting area.
Geriatric Assessment Unit Assist the Rehabilitation Assistant with group activities and exercises for elderly patients, provide assistance to patients at mealtime. Help patients achieve their goal of independence while assisting in activities such as quiz games, ring cleaning, shoe polishing, spelling bees, dominos, croquinole or checkers.
Intensive Care Unit - Family Lounge Provide comfort and support to families of patients in the ICU, prepare coffee/ tea for families, contact staff to arrange visits for families, provide families with information on Hospital and Auxiliary services.
Inpatient Units Provide comfort and support while visiting with patients, assist patients during mealtime, raising beds, setting up bed tables and feeding as required, offer ice water, toast and juice to patients, provide patients with information on Hospital and Auxiliary services.
Information Desks Greet patients, visitors and the general public, direct and escort patients to other clinics and areas within the hospital, locate wheelchairs for patients and arrange transportation for patients.
Medical Day Care Unit Assist incoming patients with securing outer clothing in a locker, provide patients gown and housecoat, prepare refreshments for patients, assist with serving lunches and distribute magazines to patients.
Physiotherapy Welcome patients as they arrive and direct them to the staff desk. Prepare, apply and remove hot packs, cold packs and ice packs under the direction of the Physiotherapist, deliver machines and gel to cubicles. Assist with changing of linen in treatment cubicles, fill ultrasound and sponge containers and keep cubicles tidy and stock patient cabinets.
Shops: Book Store, Flower Shop, Gift Shop, Lottery Kiosk Provide a warm welcome and shopping assistance to patients, visitors & hospital staff, operate cash register.
Surgical Day Care Unit Collect patient files from staff desk. Accompany patients from waiting room to locker area and assign lockers to patients provide patient with gowns, weigh patient and record their height, assist patient to preoperative area and show them to appropriate bed.
Ultrasound Welcome patients as they arriveand direct them to the staff desk. Show patients to the change rooms and provide them with appropriate gowns, direct patients to the scan rooms, keep patients informed of delays & comfort anxious patients. Restock supplies in the scan rooms.
Women's Breast Health Centre Welcome patients as they arrive, direct and escort patients to the waiting area, resource room and radiology, manage waiting area, pantry area and provide refreshments to patients, assist with the preparation of examination rooms.
