Benefits of Volunteering

Two Volunteers at the Café-Restaurant, Riverside Campus
Volunteers at The Ottawa Hospital gain valuable experiences that will benefit them throughout their lifetime.

In addition, volunteers are eligible to receive the following benefits:

Complimentary Parking
You are entitled to free parking while on duty as a volunteer.

Volunteer Lounge
Each campus has a volunteer lounge for your use where you are invited to relax and meet other volunteers.

Shuttle Service
Your Ottawa Hospital photo identification card entitles you to use the free shuttle bus that runs between campuses.

Continuing Education
In addition to the training you will receive in preparation for your volunteer assignment, further education and training opportunities are available through the Department of Volunteer Services, The Ottawa Hospital, and the volunteer associations.

Special Events
Throughout the year, the Department of Volunteer Services and volunteer associations host a variety of events and activities, to which you are cordially invited!

Letter of Reference
Once you have completed 50 hours of volunteer service, you may request a letter of reference attesting to your involvement as a volunteer at The Ottawa Hospital.

In addition to the benefits listed above, supplementary benefits are offered by each volunteer association.
