I am pleased and honoured, as the Centre's founder, to welcome you to the Shirley E. Greenberg Women's Health Centre. The Centre is part of The Ottawa Hospital's Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Newborn Care. We are located on the 7^th Floor of the Riverside Campus.

The Centre, which opened its doors in January 2005, fulfils the vision of The Ottawa Hospital in its commitment to provision of state of the art clinical care, education and research in partnership with the University of Ottawa and the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute.

The Centre is most fortunate to have had the generous support of our Patron, Shirley E. Greenberg throughout the planning and building process. Ms. Greenberg has been an advocate for women's issues for many years and continues to take an active interest in the ongoing development of our centre of excellence for women.

During a recent visit by Premier Dalton McGuinty to SEGWHC, I was most pleased to say that our Women's Health Centre, unique in Canada, is being recognized as a model for communities elsewhere in Ontario, Canada and indeed internationally.

With the tremendous support of The Ottawa Hospital Senior Team and individuals and businesses in our community, we have built this Centre for women. Together we will continue to advance the cause of women's health and raise the level of health care for women in Eastern Ontario and set an example across the country.

Thank you to all who made a commitment to this project and in essence helped to make my "dream" a reality.
