Radiation Therapy Program
Radiation
therapy is the use of high-energy radiation to deliver precise and safe
treatment to people with cancer.
Radiation therapists work closely with patients and their families within
a team of doctors, nurses, medical physicists and other health care professionals.
They use advanced computer systems to plan treatment details, as well
as calculating the radiation dose.
Radiation therapists simulate the planned distribution, position the
patients for accurate treatment delivery, and operate the radiation therapy
equipment. They also construct and fit immobilization devices and accessory
devices that can shape, modify, and block radiation.
