Multiple Birth Prenatal Classes

Our Multiple Birth Prenatal Classes are geared to meet the special needs of parents expecting multiples. The series consists of three classes including two weekend day classes and one evening class. Pre-registration is required.

Class 1: 9:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.

• Incidence and types of multiple pregnancies
• Fetal development
• Physical and emotional changes, nutrition, testing, and risks in a multiple pregnancy
• Relaxation techniques
• Stages of labour
• Coping skills for labour
• Medical variations including control of pain, induction and cesarean birth

Class 2: 9:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.

• Characteristics and care of the newborns
• Postpartum care of the family in hospital
• Care of preterm or low birthweight babies
• The postpartum period: emotional and physical adjustments
• Parental roles
• Relationship stressors
• Hints for parents of multiples
• Community resources

Class 3: 7 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.

• Breastfeeding Multiples

Directions

Civic Campus Bickell Room – You can park on the residential streets around the hospital so you don't have to pay for parking. Go into the hospital by the main entrance (Norman Patterson). Go down the hall straight ahead of you and the Bickell Room is on the right, just after the bathrooms.

General Campus Room W1492 – You can park on Lynda Lane (one street east of the Smyth Road entrance to the General Campus) so you don't have to pay for parking. Go into the hospital by the main entrance. Walk past the shops, turn right after the escalators. Turn left just before the elevators and follow the signs to the Critical Care Wing. When you get to the end of the long hallway, enter the M1 double doors in front of you. Walk straight ahead to Room W1492.

You must PRE-REGISTER for all prenatal classes.
