The Weight Management Clinic was established in 1992 to provide
treatment of obesity to high medical risk patients. The Clinic provides
consultation, identification, diagnosis and treatment of high medical
risk obesity to patients in the Ottawa-Carleton region.
Patients are scheduled for a consultation appointment with one
of the clinic physicians; the patient will then receive immediate
feedback on their own degree of risk associated with their obesity
and options for treatment. OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan)
covers the cost of the initial medical assessment at the Clinic.
Patients whose weight is a medical issue may consider taking the
Weight Management Clinic's program in lifestyle modification.
