First Memories™ Baby Photo Kiosk

First Memories™, a do-it-yourself baby photo kiosk, is now in operation at the Civic and General Campuses of The Ottawa Hospital (TOH). Thanks to a partnership with local technology company LightSpeed Studios Inc., the new service will enhance the birthing experience for the families of the 7,500 babies born each year at TOH, and provide the hospital with shared revenue to reinvest in patient care.

First Memories™ is a free service for families. Through an interactive touch-screen, users can take and retake photos of their baby either alone, or along with family. Once a photo of their liking has been chosen, families can print off a copy, and even create a unique birth announcement card that can be sent out electronically. Soon, they will also be able to create a short audio-video presentation that they could send out too.

This is supported by revenues from advertising that appear on an LCD screen built into the kiosk. Advertisers benefit from having a highly targeted audience with interests in newborn products and services. All advertising and presentation materials are subject to the hospital's approval.
