Major Construction at the General Campus

As part of our Emergency Department expansion, the Emergency ramp and deck at the General Campus are being renovated and expanded. Construction will begin June 1, 2009 to be completed by mid-September. Three entrances will be closed as a result of the construction and you can expect traffic congestion in the front of the main building. The hospital will do its best to minimize disruptions.

Please see map below.

Here is how you can more easily access the hospital for your next appointment or treatment:

  • Use the main entrance to the Main Building – there will be a covered walkway from the garage to the main entrance.
  • If you are being dropped off, ask the person to drop you off at the main entrance.
  • If you are coming to the Eye Institute, Surgical Day Care Unit, ICU or Pain Clinic, park in the Critical Care Wing parking lot and use the main entrance to the Critical Care Wing.

If you are a patient coming to the Cancer Centre for an appointment or treatment:

  • Use the main entrance to the Cancer Centre (adjacent to the Critical Care Wing).
  • If you are being dropped off, ask the person to drop you off at the main entrance of the Cancer Centre.
  • If you are parking, park in the Critical Care Wing parking lot – it is much closer to the Cancer Centre.
  • If you park in the garage, there will be a covered walkway that will bring you to the main entrance of the General Campus. Follow the signs to the Cancer Centre.

If you use ParaTranspo to come for your appointment or treatment, please note that they will be accessing the main entrance of the Cancer Centre and that of the Critical Care Wing. ParaTranspo drivers are aware of this and will ensure that you know where to go to be picked up after your appointment or treatment.

OC Transpo routes and stops will remain the same.

We thank you for your understanding and appreciate your cooperation as we continue to grow and improve to better serve our community.
