Welcome to Speech-Language Pathology


Speech-language pathologists at The Ottawa Hospital provide clinical services to adults with a wide range of communication and / or swallowing disorders. These may include difficulties with speech, language (speaking and understanding), cognitive communication skills (i.e. recalling, reasoning and problem solving), fluency (stuttering), voice and swallowing.

We provide services to inpatient and specific outpatient populations for both assessment and treatment of numerous communication and swallowing disorders.

There are 23 full and part-time Speech-Language-Pathologists and one Speech Technician working at The Ottawa Hospital. Services are provided at the following locations:

Speech-language pathologists hold a master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university program. They are registered by the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO) which is the provincial regulating body. Speech technicians hold a three year college diploma.
