Welcome to Nursing
The Ottawa Hospital holds significant promise for patients and families,
staff, physicians, volunteers and future employees. As one of the largest
acute care hospitals and Canada's largest academic health science centre,
we are extremely proud of the progress we have made since our merger on
April 1, 1998.
In all efforts, our patients and their families are our focus. Our commitment
to education and research (fundamental components which enable us to provide
quality care) is evident throughout all areas of the hospital.
The Ottawa Hospital family has faced significant challenges over the
past few years. Within that reality, we are committed to strengthening
our commitment to education and research, and thereby improving the care
we provide.
With a nursing staff of over 3,400, we have a well-qualified and enthusiastic
group that is actively involved in the planning and implementation of many
initiatives. Improving the work environment in order to enhance retention of
staff, and implementing a well-organized recruitment plan, are critical components
of our efforts.
As you travel through this Web site, you will obtain a flavour of our organization.
The Ottawa Hospital is committed to the delivery of quality patient care in
both official languages, is dedicated to building the future and believes that
all of our decisions must be based on the continued improvement of care for
Ottawa residents and those referred to us for care from outside of this region.
In addition to providing quality care to those patients and families directly
associated with our institution, our health care team has the knowledge, expertise
and motivation to influence health care nationally and internationally.
Welcome to a quality health care organization!
