Centres for Nursing Excellence
The Centres for Nursing Excellence offer nursing, at The Ottawa Hospital,
the competitive edge in pursuit of ongoing knowledge development. Success
of any individual, team or organization is directly linked to the acceptance
of life long learning as an integral part of professionalism. The mandate
of the Centres is to integrate information technology into practice.
The Centres for Nursing Excellence provide state-of-the-art computer
access; interactive computer programs; nursing consultant support; literature
search capability; access to the latest clinical practice guidelines to
support evidence-based practice. Information concerning education, research
and quality activities is posted.
The Centres, located at the Civic and General Campuses house these
innovations within a centralized, visible location, with dedicated space
for nurses to meet and work collaboratively on professional practice issues.
The Centres for Nursing Excellence support scholarship, which is the discovery,
application and integration of new knowledge into the discipline of nursing
and professionalism, the action of being accountable for one's practice.
Through the use of information technology the Centres encourage nurses
to create, implement and evaluate innovative strategies within all domains
of Nursing practice. These activities help to facilitate excellence in
patient care at The Ottawa Hospital.
