Marcel Ruzicka, MD, PhD, FRCP(C)
Assistant Professor
Dr. Ruzicka is Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Nephrology at the University of Ottawa. Dr.
Ruzicka received his M.D. from the Charles University in Prague, The Czech Republic. He completed his
training in Internal Medicine at the Institute for Clinical and Experimental Medicine in Prague and at the
University of Ottawa.
He did his Nephrology training at the University of Ottawa, the University of Toronto, and the Institute
for Clinical and Experimental Medicine in Prague. He is certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology
by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, the American Board of Internal Medicine, and
by the Czech Institute for Postgraduate Education of Physicians.
Dr. Ruzicka did his research training at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, where he completed his Ph.D. thesis titled " Renin Angiotensin System and Cardiac Volume Overload Induced Cardiac Hypertrophy". His postdoctoral research
was supported by the Fellowship Awards from the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada and the Medical
Research Council of Canada/Canadian Hypertension Society. Dr. Ruzicka joined the Division of Nephrology at
The Ottawa Hospital in 2002 and has a cross-appointment at the Hypertension Unit of the University of Ottawa
Heart Institute.
