Pathology and Laboratory Medicine

The entire staff of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine welcomes you.

Our laboratory services are based on all three campuses and we all support the Heart Institute, the Rehabilitation Centre, and the Cancer Centre. The divisions, Anatomic Pathology, Biochemistry, Hematology and Transfusion Medicine and Microbiology, offer a wide variety of routine and esoteric tests in a dedicated, timely and efficient manner.

Affiliated with the University of Ottawa, teaching and research are an important part of our mission. Teaching is delivered through the support of four Royal College approved programs (Anatomic and General Pathology, Hematopathology and Microbiology). Residents of various other programs, medical students, students in laboratory technology and cytotechnologists are also visiting our department.

Our physicians, scientists and our entire staff support numerous clinical trials and conduct clinical research in various fields of laboratory medicine. As a member of the Eastern Ontario Regional Laboratory Association, we aim at expanding our tertiary care role in the region with an active participation in the development of the Regional Laboratory, while continuing and expanding our clinical services and educational activities.
