As Chair and Chief, Dr. Gilberg oversees the ophthalmology academic program at TOH, the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario and the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa. He holds an academic appointment with the Faculty as an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and currently serves as the Chair of the Association of Canadian University Professors of Ophthalmology. He is presently a member and Executive Secretary of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada’s Test Committee in Ophthalmology.

Dr. Gilberg joined the Department of Ophthalmology at the Faculty in 1992 with an appointment at the University of Ottawa Eye Institute, TOH. Fourteen ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive fellows have trained under his guidance since 1995.

Dr. Gilberg completed his medical degree and residency at the Faculty of Medicine, uOttawa, followed by a two-year fellowship in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Miami’s Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.
